Path of Exile 3.25 is almost here. Are you ready? Here we want to showcase my starter build for the upcoming Settlers of Kalguur league, Explosive Trap Trickster, and show how to optimize it to reach new heights in tanking. Follow along as we explore this monumental build!

Building An Uber Tanker

I have to say that one of my signature builds is Explosive Trap Trickster, and I’ve been starting with it in the past leagues, but it wasn’t until this POE 3.24 Necropolis league that I really made an uber tanker version.

Here you can clearly see what I achieved with this build on a reasonable budget. Not only does this build tank Sirus Meteor, Beam, and Shaper’s slams just as well as always, but it also has a pretty crazy life recovery. I’m talking about an uber tanker, of course. I can assure you that I haven't seen anyone make this build that tanky until now.

High Life Recovery And Damage

This build has 100% flask uptime, converts all physical damage taken into elemental damage, has the ability to recover insanely from life flasks. Even if we use life flasks, it can recover about 3.7k life per second.

In addition to this, the damage it deals is also quite high, about 51 million damage per second to normal bosses and 15 million damage per second to Uber Bosses. Overall, this build is very solid and powerful.

Why It Is The Best Starting Build Choice?

So, without a doubt, Explosive Trap Trickster is definitely one of the best boss killers in Path of Exile. It’s not by chance that I always recommend starting a league with this build. This is because you can always start with this build from scratch, and you only need to spend very little POE Currency to scale to a pretty high level and easily crush bosses in the endgame.

Obviously, we don’t know what key mechanics will be available in POE 3.25 at this point, but I think that if this build has not been nerfed or cheated, and your goal is to kill bosses early, or just want a build that can be played to the end, then starting with Explosive Trap Trickster will be an easy choice.

Clear Speed

Regarding clear speed, I have to admit that most of the time, when a build has strong single target damage, it pays a price in terms of clearing.

But luckily, you can swap the regular Explosive Trap for Explosive Trap of Shrapnel and enjoy a large area of ​​damage effect and a satisfying clear speed. I’m not saying it will beat Lightning Arrow character in this regard, but for me, this speed is acceptable in terms of clearing.

Having said that, let’s see what the difference is between the regular Explosive Trap and its Transfigured version.

The first one has very strong single target damage, but the coverage area is much smaller. Transfigured version is a very large AOE, but less single target damage, because they fixed/nerfed this version of the skill. For our setup, if we compare their single target damage, Explosive Trap of Shrapnel has significantly less damage.

How To Optimize Trickster?

I mentioned earlier that we have 100% flask uptime. Even better, we also got a really good belt in Necropolis League, which is Tides of Time. I think at this point, everyone knows how powerful the belt is, but I really don’t see anyone trying to optimize it.

So technically, I made my Trickster a Pathfinder because of the belt. I took all the flask nodes in the tree and increased the flask duration, charge gain, and flask efficiency. But unfortunately, this was not enough to maintain the flasks. I needed more flask charge gain or duration.

My first plan was to use a rare body armor and use Searing Exarch Implicit to give the flask charge gain for this build. This made all flasks have 100% uptime.

But unfortunately, rare armor is not that powerful if we are talking about damage reduction. Lighting Coil is still essential if we want to withstand heavy hitting spells, otherwise we will most likely die to the slam of Sirus Meteor and Shaper. So we need to use 11 Flask Effect Duration Tattoos so that we can equip Lighting Coil in the build.

Honestly, if they don’t reintroduce Tattoos in POE 3.25 leagues, I don’t think it will be possible. But of course, I don’t know what the mechanics of the next league will do, and what power it will bring us. Anyway, this is how I made this tank build, and I’m very happy with the result.

Overall, I’m very happy with this build, it has everything that makes me happy. It’s an uber tanker with good damage and good recovery, and it doesn’t use any super expensive items.     How Does It Work?

    This Crit Arc Totem Hierophant is a great POE 3.25 league starter build that excels at clearing while having good boss damage. It can stack a lot of manas while gaining significant damage and defense.

    It is worth noting that Arcane Cloak that consumes a lot of manas will be used to grant additional lightning damage based on 15% of the mana consumed. Therefore, the more mana you have, the more damage you gain.

    Mind Over Matter is a defense mechanism that allows 40% of the damage to be taken from mana before reducing life. And with Hierophant’s Divine Guidance, a notable Ascendancy passive skill, 50% of the damage we take is converted into mana first and then into life.

If you feel like you need more damage, then of course get more spell damage or crit. The skill set is pretty self-explanatory, so let’s move on to the gear section.

    Gear Set

    For this build, I have different sets of gear to choose from, targeting the early game, mid game, and end game.

    Early Game

    We can clear Tier 16 maps with the early game set, which also only requires 4 Link. Like I said before, this build relies heavily on mana for damage and defense, so make sure most of your gear sets have high mana. Other important mods are Life, Resistances and Attributes. Of course, Cast Speed ​​is also great for this build, so try to get it on your Amulets and Rings.

    Mid-Game

    The mid-game set is not much different from the early-game set, except that you will want to upgrade your weapons. If possible, get +1 Totem on your shield. It will be a huge damage boost. As for armor pieces, it is best to add Eldritch Implicit modifiers, minimum level is fine. When you want to fight the normal Pinnacle Bosses, upgrade your gear to this set.

    End Game

    Now, for an end game set, it can be a bit expensive because we are trying to get Spell Suppression and Dexterity for our gear on top of Life, Resistances, and Mana.

    With Magebane Keystone, we have a 1% chance to suppress spell damage for every 15 Dexterity. If you think it is difficult to reach the spell suppression cap, you can get Spell Suppression on the shield based on Evasion. You still get +1 Totem, but you will lose +1 to gem level. If you don’t mind this damage loss, this is a good way to reduce gear pressure.

    To get more damage, try to get your weapons, shields, and amulets to a +1 gem level. In my opinion, the end game set is mandatory if you want to easily complete Maven’s Invitation.

    Survivability

    Now, let’s talk about the survivability of this Totem build.

    Ironwood is the anoint we need for this build. However, instead of providing +30% to all Elemental Resistances for Totems, Ironwood now adds 40% to Totem Life (previously 30%) and provides 40% additional Physical Damage Reduction to Totems.

    This change is not bad, but if you feel that your Totem is dying from elemental damage too often, I strongly recommend getting Totem Elemental Resistances on your Jewels.

  • Hello fellow Exiles! With Path of Exile 3.25 Settlers of Kalguur League just around the corner, I'm back with my Toxic Rain Pathfinder!

    Settlers of Kalguur brought a lot of nerfs and buffs to the build, but the nerfs only affect Uber Endgame, not the league start. And I fixed a lot of the nerfs on the build, so I can still say with certainty that this is still one of the safest builds for the league start.

    Toxic Rain

    First, I’ll walk you through the core skills of the build, and then I’ll cover the changes to the skill in POE 3.25.

    Our skill of choice is Toxic Rain. Fire a projectile with a bow, and where it lands, Spore Pods will spawn, which will start dealing constant Chaos damage in an area, and they can overlap each other.

    We need to hit the 39% increased area threshold. Of these, 20% with Bow Mastery and 9% with simple gloves craft. For the rest, you have two options: The first is a 10% increased craft from our Amulet. The second is a 10% increased craft from Helmets Implicit. But you don’t have to worry about this until late game!

    Nerfs

    Let’s talk about the nerfs to Toxic Rain Pathfinder in POE 3.25 first.

    The first nerf is that they just removed Divine Blessing Setup Support from the game. Many builds are using this Support Gem because it gives you a free Aura.

    The removal of this Support Gem cost us about 13% of our damage here. The problem is that they did this without any compensation. As you can imagine, it must feel bad when your build is nerfed.

    Next up is Physical Damage taken as Elements got a pretty serious nerf. They removed this mod from Taste of Hate, removed the craftable mod from Crafting Bench, and removed Watcher’s Eye mod associated with this stat. Sadly, there is no compensation for this either.

    This is a pretty obvious change if you are aiming to tank Uber Pinnacle Boss, but don’t worry, I found a solution to this problem.

    Buffs

    However, we also get buffs.

    The first buff isn’t too big, they just reduce the mana cost by 1. This small change will help us use Toxic Rain almost for free so that we can abandon Eldritch Battery, but we are still using it in the early game.

    The next one is a slightly bigger buff. They changed Increased Duration Support to More Duration Support. In the early game, we would use this gem before getting empower. But with this change, this Support Gem could become a competitive choice in the mid- and even late-game.

    Clear Speed

    Next, let’s talk about the clear speed of this build. I have to say that Toxic Rain’s clearing effect is very poor.

    Here, we will use its performance in Uber Cortex map as an example. To be honest, its clear speed is not too fast, but this is Uber Cortex and monsters take 70% damage. So you will only use Toxic Rain on very difficult content, like Ubers or Tier 17 maps.

    Most of the time, you will swap Toxic Rain for Caustic Arrow and Arrow Nova Support. This way, your clear speed will be very fast and you can wipe out Expedition and Legion with just a few clicks.

    By the way, you don’t need to run Petrified Blood on the map, you can just switch to Grace Aura and enjoy the ride. The main reason I like this build so much is the tanking. You can face 90% of the content. Of course, you need to spend more POE Currency on your gear instead of just using day one gear.

    Passive Tree

    Let’s break down Passive Tree of this build, which is the most important to have a good leveling experience.

    You can see the bottom level 13, click on it and get a drop-down menu and select your current level for the corresponding tree. It will cover from level 1 to level 94!

    When you finish your first lab, you only need to add a small node to the level 34 tree, and Wasting, Entropy, and Blood Drinker are all good choices.

    Another node about the level 55 tree. Your first goal is to take Entropy node in this tree, and then continue the path you saw before.

    Also, there is a notable node missing here. For the map progression, we are going to first pick up Reservation Wheels so that you can use more Aura, and if you reach 500 Energy Shield, then you can use Eldritch Battery.

    Bandits And Pantheons

    Maybe you will be curious about Bandits and Pantheons. Actually, it is very simple.

    Bandits: Click on Configuration tab under General, select Kill All Three. This is a very simple choice, because the others are not very useful to us.

    Pantheons: Choose Soul of Garukhan and upgrade it as soon as possible to get Freeze Immunity and reduce the cold effect inflicted on you. Secondly, Soul of Garukhan reduces Shock effect. When you get 100% Avoid Elemental Ailments, you’ll want to switch to it.
